The North Chapel, built in 1942 on the old Naval Training Center grounds in Point Loma, has served thousands of sailors and recruits for more than 65 years. It is now open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.
All are invited to see the newly refurbished Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, enjoy the sounds of the rebuilt original pipe organ and see the beautiful stained glass windows depicting religious and naval scenes. The windows were designed and created by noted San Diego artist Fred Wieland. The Chapel is now home to weddings and memorial services and is offering cultural performances, including instrumental concerts and choir presentations.
Private tours for groups may also be arranged.
The North Chapel is located at 2881 Roosevelt Road, on the corner of Truxtun Road
at Liberty Station.
