Free Saturday programs Please call the park for specific program dates
and times at 760.789.2220.
Whether you’re camping or not, there’s lots to do at Dos Picos! On
Saturdays there are ranger-led activities that include art and outdoor
education based on California science standards.
Junior Rangers: Like science and nature shows? Here’s your chance for
some hands-on learning about rocks, plants, bugs, and more.
Trail Hikes: Fresh air, sunshine, and the seasonal appearance of local
flora and fauna await you. Bring lots of questions. Please, no dogs on
the nature trail.
Crafts: Make and keep a masterpiece. $1 donation per crafter
gratefully accepted.
Sidewalk Chalk Art: Let your “inner artist” come out to play.
Texture scavenger hunts: We take crayon rubbings and family teamwork
to a whole new level of FUN!
Fishin’ with the ranger: Catch and release using our “Old School” cane
poles. You can bring your own pole, too.
Bat hikes: Learn how to see and hear real bats as they come out to feed
in the park.
Evening programs: After sunset, the Plymax theater comes to life with
cool computer slide shows, sing-alongs, and the new Live Bug Cam.
Night hikes: The whole world changes at night. Constellations and
critters come out to play. Let’s see and hear what hides by day. Bring a
flashlight and adult.
All programs meet at the amphitheater. $3 parking is available on site.
Saturday programs are listed at the park on Fridays in front of the ranger
station. Programs are subject to change according to weather and
ranger availability.
We also take the FREE Discovery Kit Program to the schools on weekdays
and host field trips for students K-6.
For more information about Saturday programs and the elementary
school Discovery Kit programs, please email Ranger Kyle at
