We asked about the possible bail-out of the big three auto makers.
I believe that we should help the auto industries out. My father in a car dealer and because of Kelly Blue Book he has lost up to $1500 on each car that he has. Not only should the big car companies be helped so should the little ones who are stuggling!! -- Lila
I have always owned General Motors cars ever since I learned how to drive at age 16, and would love to see GM survive. However, the problem with any bailout of the Big Three U.S. automakers is the fact that the United Auto Workers union has vowed not to make any concessions to help facilitate the U.S. automakers' survival. While foreign auto manufacturers are opening plants in the U.S. without the shackles of union shops, the Big Three are still doomed to exist inefficiently by union domination. Any bailout of U.S. automakers MUST be coupled with union concessions in order to make sense. Otherwise, the U.S. automakers must be told that they are on their own. -- Lawrence
What is this courty coming too. People buying cars, and houses they can't afford. Banks and business approving those loans. There is no accountabilty, and common sense left in any American today. Now we have a new president promising money, and handouts. Where people like me are going to flip the bill when we go and buy a gallon of milk. Grow up America before we become the next Russia. -- Lincoln
If GM, Ford & Chrysler built better quality vehicles, Americans would but more. Why not look at heavy taxes or minimizing imports, ie Toyota & Honda. Maybe the real answer is for the US automakers focus on building a better product. -- Jeff
I believe that it is in everyone's interest to keep the Big 3 in the auto industry afloat. I would much prefer that the money for their bailout come from the $700 billion already allocated for the financial markets. Their bailout SHOULD come with conditions such as that they produce more environmentally conscious vehicles which will in turn make their companies more competitive in their. The public must have the option to still be able to shop American. -- Jose
The automaker bailout ensures that overbloated union benefits that stifled these companies will continue with new mandates and taxpayer subsidies. We should let these mismanaged companies fail or go bankrupt, and allow others to emerge from their ashes. It's the free-market, capitalist way, and it works. -- Lisa
I think the auto industry should be required to sell a cleaner and earth friendly automobile. Get rid of gas vehicles. The tax payers are bailing the auto industry out of their problem. Now it's time for the auto industry to bail out the enviornment. This would be the biggest step in becoming oil free. And keep American jobs for the big 3. -- Jason
Bailing out the big 3 will not work. The reason they are struggling is due to the lack of sales, which is directly related to the economy.Granted,i believe if they were to fail,it would devastate the economy further, but a bail out will only delay the inevitable. -- Michael
BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Toyota all produce cars here in America. They own factories in the U.S. and employ U.S. Citizens. If the Big 3 can't make it, I'm sorry, but so be it. A company has no right to exist in perpetuity. -- Brian
