We asked what you thought about the further cuts to the State Budget.
The solution for the state budget is simple. You add the amount of the deficit with the amount of the reserves the Governor wants to set aside and figure out what percentage of the entire current budget this total equals. If it's ten percent, then what you do is deduct 10 percent from every agency/entity /program drawing from the budget. This way, everyone divides minor budget cuts equally verses a handful being stuck with major cuts. Each entity must learn to work within their means at that point until such a time comes that our economy and revenue recovers to subsidize with more funds. -- Angie
Regarding the cuts for children's health: Adults need to know that there is a price to pay for children. If you can't afford them, don't have them. A mother with six children and no means of self support should be considered a selfish criminal. You can't blame the governor for this problem however much it improves ratings. Be strong and honest- put the blame where it belongs. -- Mary
It is about time. For too long, to many people take advantage of the system. Californians have becomes a state of slackers. Go into your local welfare office. When school children test scores are up, and hospital have more educated RN's (not pMedical Assistants). Then I say we complain. But until then. I guess it's up to drastic measures to get this state on course. -- Lincoln
I am appalled at the Govenor and his decision to cut medical care for our states children!! I believe it's time that those people in office should start taking cuts to their pay, and not penalizing our children. -- Pam
im on ssi and ssa these cuts are wrong im on a fixed income i have have im loseing my state benfits the state goverment is wrong makeing these cuts its not right -- Douglas
Why is it parents can not take care of and provide for the children they bring into this world without help from tax payers and the government. The government is not to blame because they have to balance a budget. Stop using the children as an excuse. -- David
Most of these so called budget cuts are smoke and mirrors. You haven't seen anything yet. There will be many more cuts to come. Do you hear me Union Public Workers. -- James
I believe that this is not fair that there cutting Healthy Families budget. The state is digging hospitals in deeper financial problems if people cannot afford the medical bill from the emergency room.
Terminate the Terminator for doing all these budget cuts that affect not only the people without health insurance but all of us. -- Francisco
While I understand the necessity for budget cuts, I dont think the governor should have cut services that protect and care for our children. The adults in the state government are the ones that are making this mess..maybe they should be the ones that are taking the paycuts to close the budget gap. -- LeighAnne
i dont agree with the govenor at all. people cant afford to pay for health care that is the reason for most of the programs. now that they are no longer available, there will be more emergency room visits that they are unable to pay which will put them in debt. not only that, children will not be as healthy as they should be because lack of medical care. -- PrincessYvonne
