We asked what you thought of the latest round of actions surrounding the seals at the La Jolla Children's Pool.
I think the Seals should be allowed to stay on the beach. I surf and swim at the beaches often, and that one beach they have isn't a very good beach, it has rocks all over in the water and surrounding areas. The seals only have one beach, we have all the rest, let them keep it! -- Alexia
why can't kids and seals just swim together hand in flipper? (: -- Fernando
Let the seals stay! We have all the beaches! Why should they have to give up the one they have? -- Alexandria
Leave the Seals and thier natural habitat alone! Like there's not enough beach left for us. That beach should just be closed indefinitley. The only accessable area there should be the wall. Anyone caught down there should be fined or arrested. It's one little patch of sand in a cove. Leave it for the animals. -- Ian
The selfishness of the people trying to displace the seals astounds me. 68& of the people in San Diego want the seals to remain. We have miles, upon miles of sandy beaches for the little children. No on is trying to deny their ability to have a play date at the beach, but for the sake of our environment, leave the seals alone. -- Roy
I think we should leave the seals alone. The state and city budgets are already stressed enough without spending money on frivolous matters as this. -- Charles
It is so sad that with over 60+ miles of beaches in the county of San Diego our citizens have to be so selfish and idiotic. The seals are a fantastic opportunity to see animals from the wild in a safe controlled setting as well a strong tourist draw. There are plenty of other places for our children to visit our beaches. And for God's sake don't waste 700K of our tax dollars on a suspect plan that may not work. -- Thomas
The Scripps family donated their land and built the sea wall to protect the CHILDREN of San Diego from the waves, Not the seals. If the wishes of Mrs. Scripps are not going to be carried out the property should revert back to the Scripps Family trust. -- Kyle
Childrens pool in La Jolla was built for the sole purpose to have a safe location for the children of san diego and visitors to experience the ocean. The city should abide by original agreements that created the pool, not look for excuses to do its job. Im sure they would like someone to sponsor a bill that they dont need to fill in potholes anymore as well. This has gone on way too long. Restore the childrens pool to the children of san diego. Let sea world create an area for the seals on the property they lease from the city. -- Thomas
my opinon about the seals is that they should stay because everyone goes to the beach to wach the seals and they are the bomb!!! -- Jason
Quit wasting tax payers money on this children's pool seal issue. Just have open it up to the public and the seals will go away. Animal activist put your efforts into our community not some random creatures. It's a time of hardship for all Americans, spend our money on things that will help our community! -- Tomas
I am beside myself hearing that the governor of the state of California, elected to represent this beautiful state, and speak for the general public, has decided to sign this bill to designate tax paying dollars to generate dog barking noises to make the seals, natural marine mamals, move from their NATURAAL state, the BEACH! This sickens me as a tax payer and a San Diego native. -- Anita
I think the seals should stay. I bet if you ask the children of San Diego..because its often called the Childrens Pool..most children would say let the seals stay...Dogs have their "Dog Beach" let the seals have their beach..San Diego has many miles of accessable beaches to use..let the seals stay. Are you listening Arnold? -- Laura
I live in El Cajon and drive to La Jolla on several occasions. Not to see people at the beach h but to see the seals. My family that comes in from out of town also enjoys seeing them. I think it is one of the many things that make San Diego unique. What a shame it would be to lose yet another opportunity to see real animals. -- Ron
It it outrageous that the superior court has ordered the seals to go. As inhabitants of this planet it is our duty to protect wild life not to disturb them. Children have many other places to play. When will we do enough damage to this planet to make us wake up? -- Nancy
I cannot believe that we would spend $700,000 to remove seals from a beach. If humans want to use a beach, they should use one of the MANY others that are available to them in San Diego County. this is a waste of tax payers dollars. -- Josh
THANKFULLY THE SEALS MAY BE ABLE TO STAY AT THE COVE IN LA JOLLA A LITTLE LONGER AND PERHAPS FOR GOOD. WHAT A GREAT GIFT TO GIVE YOUR FAMILY . TAKING THEM TO SEE THE SEALS ON THE BEACH. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU BE A PART OF SOMETHING SO WONDERFUL. THE CHILDREN CAN SWIM AT ANOTHER PART OF THE BEACH , THE SEALS ,HOWEVER, MAY NOT THRIVE ANY WHERE ELSE. THE CITY SHOULD CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR THE SEALS. WHAT GREAT PR FOR THE AREA. THANKS SHARON
To believe we are even thinking about moving the seals out of an area where thousands gather to see seals in nature is ridiculous. We have miles of beautiful beaches for children to play and swim. This is one of the few areas we can go to watch the seals. Whenever we have visitors from out of town they always request the zoo & the seals. It's a part of what makes San Diego beautiful. -- Collin
Why do we have Judges in Judicial system????? Who does the Governor think he is that HE can come along and tell the judges NOT SO FAST when this has been going on for years now - and the Judge has just, this very day, said he wants the seals out of there in 72 hours. GOOD FOR HIM. I just hope he has the backbone/spine about him to stick with his decision and to tell the Governor to keep working on his budget and stay out of the La Jolla seal thing. We are getting very, very tired of the smelly seals in La Jolla. -- Ann
Ok, How many beaches do we have to visit and go to here in San Diego County alone? Why are we so worried about 1 little space of sand and why are we spending so much time and MONEY on this stupid subject. My wife a VERY hard working 2nd. grade teacher of 9 years almost got a pink slip because the state and County has no money, but we have enough money to CONTINUE this debate on a small space of sand??? What happens when an endangered bird flys and nests in a park or field? WE tape it off and dont let ANYONE around till they leave. Why is it so different for an animal that has many of its own kind still alive? Tell these people to walt 5 min. north or south to a different beach and quit wasting everyones time and MONEY. -- Tim
Teachers are being laid off, but the Governator is signing a $700k bill to have sounds of dogs barking to move seals away from the beach...THEIR natural environment. This makes me ill. Reassess where we are burning our maney and if it is worth the tax payers dollars or the health and safety of the marine life. -- Hogan

What have we become in this city?Just the fact that we would even consider removing those seals, who have every right to lounge on the beach as we human beings do, repulses me. The real kicker is the excuse that we need that area back for the "children". The children have the rest of the beachfront up and down the Ca coast for their use. What exactly are we teaching our children? In a time when every Athiest is proclaiming victory over the removal of God from money, schools, public offices, etc...now we are proclaiming to be the gods of all forms of life? If we want the area, screw the seals? I really think the people of LaJolla should reconsider this request. If this passes, I will dam well make sure thatmy children and future grandchildren never step foot on that beach or even enter their community again. They can take their self righteous morals/actions all the way to the bank. -- Sue
