Officer Goes Back to Work

What do you think about officer white returning back to work next week?

Officer Frank White has every right to return to work with the San Diego Police Department. He was acquitted of all criminal charges in a case that never should have been prosecuted by the D.A. I applaud his courage and congratulate him on his exoneration. He and his family deserve the very best. In a community where citizens have shot and killed their protectors, Officers Tony Zepetella and Dan Bessant, those who serve should have the right to protect themselves and their family members. The prosecution of Frank White was an outrage! -- Cynthia

Officer White should not be let back on the force so soon. The San Diego Police Department should have Officer White go through further training to make sure that he has cualifications to meet the Officer requirements. -- liam

It is unconscionable to think that this officer would be found not guilty for such an act done while as a CIVILIAN. Would any of us take the same actions we would face several felony charges, including attempted murder, yet this points to how there is clearly a double standard for police. Most worrisome is the fact that this happened in a context of increased instances of police brutality and violence across the country. This sets a VERY BAD PRECEDENT. This verdict is why an us & them mentality persists in our broken society by both sides!!!! -- Roberto

I don't think he should go back to work as a police officer. I would not trust him. I can not believe that he used his gun! You shoot to kill no other reason. He should not be allowed to be a police officer. thank God he does not work in my city!! -- Lita

hi i think its funny the way the cops wife says(he's ready 2 serve again) is he also ready to continue to shoot who ever and get away with it. what a way to abuse you're privlages thanks. -- Bobby

is all goverment no matter what he does in the street the goverment is gonna protect him thats why i hate that offiecers there allways will be protect bie the law unless they recorded that is when they take action i bet you if there was a video of the scene trust me he whone be in the streets or going back to work on monday trust me if anyone sees him in the street they wont trust him no more -- Jorge

I am very happy that Frank White was found not guilty and going to be back on the job to protect and serve. That lady was CRAZY and he was justified to protect himself and his wife. -- Donna

the officer should not get off so easy he should have some kind of punishment the boy could have been killed he is an officer trained to deal with this kind of problem the decision he made was wrong and he knows it. -- Jamie

I do not believe that the police officer should return to work. He pulled a gun on a woman who was aggressive toward him and his wife. If ordinary citizens pulled a gun on someone who has been aggressive toward them, theywould have been convicted of a crime. It is my assessment that the police officer used poor judgement in firing his gun. I believe that her vehicle was a weapon; however, she would not have damaged her car. The other concern is that he did not know that a child was in the car and he shot into the vehicle. The woman was punished for her crime, which she should have been, but the officer was not punished for using poor judgement. It will bother me if he returns to serve and protect with a gun. -- Angela

Under investigation means NO WORK until the investigation is complete. If i would have done what Officer White did i would be in prison for 20 years.. It must be nice to carry a badge and a gun... Nothing like a free pass. -- Ken

When Ms. Silva decided to drive drunk and use her car as a weapon, it became necessary for Officer White to defend himself and his wife. Ms. Silva was the agressor and suffered the consequences of the series of incredibly bad decisions that she made. -- Jim and Mary Jo

Officer White was tried and found not guilty by a jury. He should be allowed to return to work immediately. The sad thing in this whole story is the fact that a child life was but in jeopardy by a mother who was drunk, high and had a bad temper. -- Dave

The verdict was correct, not guilty for Frank White. Yet, he has demonstrated poor judgment while under stress. Is it shoot first ask questions later??? -- Thelma

I am extremely disappointed in our San Diego police department for not taking the time needed to evaluate the officer. Fact of the matter is, they were both in the wrong, and both excercised poor decision making. The mother should of thought of her son and walked away, and the officer should of excercise other options before pulling out his weapon. The SDPD chief letting his officer return to work this quickly. Is just showing the same poor judgement the officer showed that night. -- Lincoln

Silva should not have put her son in that situation. As a mother she is completely responsible for her own actions and the outcome for that matter. However I also feel that our police officers should be held to a higher standard and he could have avoided all of this by waiting for other police officers. Overall the one person a feel for is Silva's son. He is truly the victim in this case. -- Vanessa

Officer Frank White has every right to return to work with the San Diego Police Department. He was acquitted of all criminal charges in a court of law. I applaud his courage and congratulate him on his exoneration. In a commmunity where citizens kill their their protectors, Officers Tony Zepetella and Dan Bessant, these heros have every right to defend themselves and their family members. The prosecution of Frank White was an outrage. I wish him and his family the very best. -- Cynthia

I am glad for this, his job is to protect and serve. He was protecting. What if she would have been driving this way with someone else that could not protect themselves.Example an elderly, or a teen, person. She broke the law, and who knows what would of happened to her child if she did not run into the police officer. -- Tammy

I cant not believe that in the us a police officer would shoot inoffensive 8 year old boy and get away without charges and he's going back to work. Now not only do we have to worry about criminals but also our police officer's. -- Domingo

Why is it that parents feel Mr. White put this child & women in danger when in fact this boys mother evidently did not care about her sons safety by her own actions, alcohol abuse, drugs, screaming obcentities, ramming the police officers car. She should not get a dime out of this and the boy was saved by her actions and she should pay all financial costs that she is responsible for including the officers pay.Hopefully she will not have custody of this boy and only after severe rehabilatations in alcohol, and drug programs along with anger management classes should she spend time with her boy with supervised visitations until she can show she will not put him at harm again. what true parent could do this to their child. -- Gayle

When White pulled the trigger he stopped being a police officer and became a criminal, it was a choice. He made the wrong one.

He did the crime, he needs to do the time.

I wouldn't trust this idiot to guard a garbage can let alone the general public.
When policeman are as poorly trained as this loser, people will be in danger always.
