We asked you about the latest chapter in the seal saga.
I think removing the seals from the children's pool is the wrong decision. They are harmless and a huge attraction to the area. "All they need is one beach." -- Jennifer
As for the payments for removing the seals. I will do the job for 85,000 and spend everynight at the childrens pool so we can save the additional money and not have to pay the police. -- Ken
Why can't we live with the natural creatures in their environment. Don't we have enough of the beaches for our use? Or is it because it's LA JOLLA? -- Tony
It seems we could create a childrens pool (beach) somewhere else and leave the seals alone. I bet it would be easier than trying to chase the seals away and less expensive based on the cost figures at hand. -- David
Really? Is there a single sane person watching this broadcast that doesn't understand that this is all a political vehicle? And are we really willing to spend this much money to go against nature? The seals are obviously happy there, leave them the ---- alone. -- Matthew
We have seventy miles of sandy coastline in San Diego County. Isn't this enough space for the kids to go swimming? There is no tangible reason this one spot needs to be used by people any longer. -- Marquez
Why does everytime this city comes up with a solution to a problem it is stupid. And people wonder why we are broke. -- James
Are seals dangerous to children? In other words, can they "swim/ play" on the same beach area? -- John
I love the seals and think they bring alot of welcome tourist dollars to the area, much more than a children's pool ever could. That being said, if you want to pay me $94k a year I personally will go down to that beach and bark my head off. -- Tracy
Where do we apply for the seal technician position. $94,000 a year to carry barking dog equipment, hang out at the beach and paid police protection. Sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime. -- Melanie
How about an M16 and a full clip - $450. Why not use this on the seal problem in La Jolla? Much cheaper than $700K. -- Willy
I think that the issue of the seals in La Jolla is absurd. Parents take their children to see the seals in their natural habitat and not in inclosures at the zoo. In a way it is a trademark. The animals are beautiful, they are't hurting anyone or anything. It's ridiculous at the cost to remove them, when the economy is in no position to do so. -- Melissa
$94,000 to run a tape of dogs barking? No wonder the city is broke. After all we've been through the city thinks paying somebody $250.00 dollars a day is the way to go. It never stops our city leaders are out of touch with reality. Oh yeah, be sure and save water like the mayor tells you to! -- Vince
The seals should not be removed. There are enough beautiful beaches in La Jolla for families to enjoy without disrupting the colony of seals. Families with children enjoy watching the seals in a natural habitat. These same families/tourists contribute dollars to the local economy when in town. The recession is not the time to foolishly spend taxpayer dollars to the tune of 700 thousand dollars. -- Dolores
I say save a lot of money and get rid of them for the last time. if you run them off with dogs barking they will soon return. The best way is the way we used to do when they interfered with our fishing. Shoot them. Cures the problem. We have more seals then most people know. I know that there will be a lot of complaints. But the best way to do. They cant come back if they are dead. -- Richard
I cannot believe the city of San Diego is willing to spend so much money to destroy one of the best tourist attractions in San Diego. Wouldn't it be smarter to spend this money to prepare for the fire season by buying more fire tracks or a super scooper? -- Harel
I think the city has made the wrong choice in moving the seals from LaJolla. When I moved here it is one of the first things we went to see. Every time we have visitors we take them to see the seals. We really enjoy sitting and watching the seals in their natural habitat, it is much better then the aquariums. SAD SAD SAD -- Sandra
