Prop 8 Ruling

We asked your thoughts on the court's ruling.

I'm not surprise w/court desicion, thats the way that shoud be for ever. Marriedge is between a man an a women. Amen. -- Domingo

Both sides were heard, however, the "Will of the People" or "Majority Rules" is and should be how controversies are decided. I think the Supreme Court was right in it's ruling along with the legality of the 18,000 couples that were married prior to the vote of the people. -- Chris

I'm suprised on the outcome of prop 8. I'm am very pleased with the courts decision, I feel if the gay community wants to voice their views on gay marriage, we that are against it should also be able to do the same. -- Christina

I am glad the court upheld the majority's vote. Gays sound like they think they should have the right to take away the rights of everyone else. It is sad the gays have such a narrow view of this, thinking only of themselves. Marriage has been between a man and a woman for thousands of years, it is one of the corner stones of society. I am glad to see the courts wisdom handed down today. -- Carl

I was not surprised by the CA Supreme Court decission however, I was disappointed. The court(s) are supposed to protect the minority from the oppressive majority as they did in Brown vs Board of Education and several other rulings. Clearly, The CA Supreme Court granted discrimination and the creation of second class citizens today. This is a sad day for CA and the CA constitution. -- David

I still feel strongly that gay marrige should not be passed... Marrige is between a man and woman. -- Jessica

This issue IS ABOUT LIBERTY AND HUMAN RIGHTS. The liberty and human rights OF FAMILIES to survive and thrive. Homosexual marriage licenses are a ringing public endorsement of sodomy. Sodomy is a crime in many states and rightly so due to its health consequences. The definition of sodomy being the placement of an organ designed to pro-create life into the organ designed to eliminate solid human waste. The medical community is very clear on sodomy… it is a healthcare disaster. -- Kevin

I am not surprised that the California Supreme court made this decision, but i am highly angered. While I'm not specifically trying to have gay marriage passed in California, i do believe that anyone and everyone has the right to have the feeling of love and happiness regardless of sexual orientation. -- Brad

If I think about the Constitution of United States of America (of which I am a citizen) I believe that I am or should be offered the same rights as any other citizen.  I am willing to go to the battle ground (and have been asked to do so) to protect each and every brother and sister, mother and father, aunt and uncle, grandfather and grandmother, niece and nephew and each and every one of their friends yet some of them want to tell me that I can not marry the person I love so dearly and want to spend my life with; where my heart and happiness grow daily.

People who feel that marriage is between a man and a women clearly are not homosexual and there for have the ability to share their love with whomever they choose (again, of the opposite sex).  That is a religious believe and not everyone is religious and should not be forced to live by those "rules".  This is not a religious debate but a question of civil rights.  My rights.

This is about FREEDOM OF CHOICE.  The freedom for one to choose their church, the freedom for one to choose their future and the freedom for one to choose who they want to marry (or UN-marry)  FREEDOM, A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

As I heard it said on TV recently:
"Gay, straight, black or white, marriage is a civil right"

I, as a citizen of the United States of America, should not I be forced to live my life based on someone elses' believes (although they are entitled to those believes and can use them to structure their life and it's journey)

My believes and my thoughts DON NOT EQUAL MY RIGHTS.

Thank you for reading               Ronn

This is not an issue of sodomy (that infers a prejudice against gay men).  Also, there are laws all around the united states of America that should be reviewed as they no longer valid or appropriate (for example, the town of Longton KS currently has a law that "colored people are not allowed out after dark). Clearly, times change as should some of the inappropriate laws.

Hi - what I think is that this thing about Religion - should be taxed - or not be thrown around to people who do NOT believe in any of it -- but what I think of marriage - is if your in LOVE then so be i t ( in Love ) but not for the church to be involved - just do it - but not the thing of  any type of sex in public  man kissing man in public - or women kissing women in public - I think that the people who think that this gay thing is wrong is NOT ... just keep it to them selves .... not in public - __________________ more to come soon ....
