We asked your opinions on the San Diego mayor's plan to cut city spending.
I believe the cutbacks should be to consultants getting twice civil salary, and to pensioners getting more than 75% of salary. And also to tax the developers and corporations same rate as workers. -- Val
I do not agree with Mayor Sanders proposels of budget cuts. It seems that everytime that Mayor Sanders speaks, he is always proposing a budget cut plan. I think Mayor Sanders needs to put himself in other peoples' shoes and really think of how this is going to affect them. He is just going to add more people to the unemployed list. -- Irais
I want to know how the Mayor is asking all departments to take a 10% cut if he himself is not. Yes he vetoed the 24% and 29% RAISES that the council voted on, now it is time to lead by example and have them all take a pay cut of their own. The council's pay is $75,386 a year and the mayor's salary is $100,464. That is more than any fireman's or police officer's. What of it Mayor? Can you stomach to tell your council they are not only losing their big fat raise but are going to have to cut 10% out of their own wallets too? Lead by example that is what I ask for and I will follow. Let the cut hit your bank account too. -- Andi
Not too long ago San Diego City employees gived them selfs a salaris raced! Thats all they care for. I ame sure they all are republicans. -- Domingo
The mayor's proposal to better our economy by shutting down 7 libraries is totally preposterous. I am tired of the government always affecting education, it seems that they don't want their citizens to succeed. Why doesn't the mayor lower the government employees salaries, this way they can see how their citizens use public services daily. -- Nora
As far as budget cuts, its unbelievable that we would cut from public safety. Do we not remember the Cedar fires or Witch Creek fires. Our men and women who protect us cant afford to have things taken away. What happens if we have another wave of fires through our communities and we dont have the money or equipment that our firefighters need. We will loose homes, people, pets and anything else that comes along with destruction. Its ashame that we have to cut money from all areas. First our kids and school and now our safety. What is going on? -- Perry
